Ia Eradze holds a Ph.D. in social and economic sciences. Her main field of research is the historical political economy of the financial sector and state formation. Currently, Ia is a research associate at the Institute for Social and Cultural Research at Ilia State University.

Ia’s book “Unravelling Dollarization Persistence: the case of Georgia” was published in 2022 by the British publisher Routledge. Moreover, Ia is the author of peer-reviewed scientific articles. At different times, Ia was a lecturer at the Berlin School of Economics and Law, the University of Kassel, Ilia State University, and Tbilisi State University.

After completing her Ph.D. at the University of Kassel, Ia worked on a post-doctoral project – The emergence of the Georgian financial sector after the collapse of the Soviet Union, initiated by the Leibniz Institute for Contemporary History. In 2022, Ia was a visiting scholar at Harvard University. This year, Ia has been invited to Trinity College and Sciences Po Paris to work on her current research on cryptocurrency production in Georgia.
